Henderson Island 2011
The final stage of the Pacific Islands Multi Agency program occurred on Henderson Island, part of the Pitcairn Group in the eastern Pacific. Henderson is an uninhabited ‘raised coral’ island 200kms northeast of Pitcairn Island.
On a mapping flight around the island, we found that the total area was 4300ha instead of the 3700ha that had been planned.
This meant that we were going to be short of bait to meet the prescription.
Two applications were made with the first at 10kg/ha and the second at 8kg/ha.
Pilots Peter Garden and David Gale.
