Mokapu Island 2008
Mokapu is a small island located off the north coast of the Hawaiian island of Molokai adjacent to the Kalapapa peninsular.
At 15ha, this was a very small island by comparison to previous work carried out but it was a breakthrough for the USA with few similar projects having been carried out previously.
The operation required two applications of Diphacinone, a first generation anti-coagulant.
The operation was carried out using Volcano Helicopters MD500 with Pilot David Okito and supported by Peter Garden as advisor.
